Charles Demuth Inspired Monotype Prints

Students created a multi-layered print inspired by artist Charles Demuth's "I Saw the Figure 5 in Gold." After choosing a number and a specific color scheme, students then built up layers of ink to create depth and overlapping. They used symbolism, images, and different languages to depict their chosen number in at least 3 different ways. Students researched their project with the following website: www.biancaburwell.wix.com/monoprints

Georges Seurat Pointillism Paintings

After observing the pointillism style of Georges Seurat, students replicated this painting style while creating a landscape-themed composition. They were required to mix paint directly on their paintings, as opposed to on a paint pallet. Students prepared for the project with the following website: www.biancaburwell.wix.com/seurat
